Furry Tails: Knit The Bridge Lives On
The Knit the Bridge Project is now living on at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
Some of the yarn that covered the Andy Warhol Bridge back in the fall has now been re-purposed and made into pet beds for a number of the cats at the shelter.
Martha Ressler, a local fiber artist, cat owner and friend of a Western Pa. Humane Society volunteer, made 11 of the round mats and donated them to the shelter.
The black yarn, now fashioned into "tuffets," once framed the Knit the Bridge panels and covered the bridge railings.
Some of the adoptable cats at the shelter are now using the beds.
Western Pa. Humane Society officials say anyone who adopts one of those special cats over this Thanksgiving holiday weekend will also get to take home the piece of Pittsburgh history.
At least one lucky cat has already gone to a loving home with one of the mats.
