Funeral Plans Released For W. Va. Sheriff's Sgt.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Funeral plans have been announced for the sheriff's sergeant from Monongalia County, W. Va., who died after his patrol car was rammed in Greene County during a police chase.
Visitation for 41-year-old Sgt. Michael May will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown, W. Va.
The viewing will continue Friday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
After the service, Sgt. May will be laid to rest at Greene County Memorial Park in Waynesburg, Pa.
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Jerod Green of Morgantown has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, murder of a law enforcement officer, criminal homicide and other counts in connection with the case.
Investigators say law enforcement officials were trying to stop Green who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident in W. Va.
State police say the crash happened early Saturday morning after Green drove his pickup from Route 19 into the southbound lanes of I-79 in Perry Township.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Green on Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m.
