From The Moon To Mars - Buzz Aldrin Talks Space Exploration
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Buzz Aldrin knows a thing or two about space. As the second man to step on the moon behind Neil Armstrong, he has a unique perspective on space exploration, and his new book, "Mission to Mars," Aldrin lays out his goals for the space program and how he believes we can get humans to Mars by the 2030's.
"There's always been a human trait to want to look over the other hill and see what's on the other side," says Aldrin. "There is a great opportunity for the history of the humanity on the Earth to make this one giant leap to establish a permanence on another planet."
Aldrin spoke to KDKA-AM's Larry and John about his vision for space, as well as what he's been up to lately, including his appearance on "The Big Bang Theory."
"It was great to do that," says Aldrin. "That's to let people know that someone who went to the moon is still in the public eye, and is still planning the future."
He also talked about his visits to Pittsburgh, including waving the Terrible Towel at a Steelers game and working with a local professor for research into his books.
