Freezing Rain To Blame For Monday Morning Commute Problems
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The latest round of winter weather has moved into the area and caused several accidents during the Monday morning commute.
The icy precipitation arrived in the Pittsburgh area shortly after 4 a.m. and it did not take long for the roads to become slick.
In Pleasant Hills, a car went off the road and into a tree on the northbound exit to Route 51 from Lebanon Church Road.
Another accident slowed traffic on the inbound side of the Parkway North near the Hazlett Street exit.
In Shaler, a car slid off the road and into a tree in the 100-block of Elmwood Drive. Fortunately, no one was injured in that crash.
In Cranberry Township, officials monitored the progress of the storm and their road crews from their traffic management center.
It is not known if anyone was injured in either crash at this time.
Drivers are being advised to take it slow and to be especially careful on back roads and side streets.
