If you have a little one venturing into Kindergarten, head over to the Children's Museum for this free event geared towards preparing them for the big transition. It's designed to help children and their parents make a healthy transition and reinforce the importance of community support in healthy child development. Experts in nutrition, after school programs, bullying, proper immunization, and other areas will be there to answer parents' questions, while kids get to enjoy all sorts of age-appropriate activities. Kids will also get to take home their very own "Class of 2024" t-shirts, story books, plus make crafts, sit on a real school bus, meet Mr. Mc Feely, and so much more. This free event will educate AND entertain!

Enjoy an entire day of free family friendly activities at the Frick Environmental Center in celebration of Earth Day 2012. The opening ceremony and tree planting runs for about a half an hour starting at 11 a.m., with full-on activities starting at noon. Enjoy nature, bird and spider walks, West African drumming, Turtle Talk, butterfly garden and sunflower room planting, eco-friendly crafts, a reptile seminar, and more! Live music from the Panther Hollow String Band is scheduled at 2 p.m. while Venture Outdoors will also be on hand to teach campfire building and geocaching. Those are only a few of the ongoing activities throughout the day! Food vendors will be on hand, and there's even free shuttle service.
