Franco "Dok" Harris Running For City Council
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Dok Harris, son of Franco Harris, announced that he is running for Pittsburgh City Council.
The 33-year old Harris is running for the Democratic Party nomination to represent the 6th councilman district in Pittsburgh.
That district runs from the Hill district through downtown Pittsburgh, to the North Side and Manchester.
Harris is challenging incumbent Councilman Daniel Lavelle.
Harris says Lavelle has been invisible with no record of accomplishment for the Sixth District.
"This isn't about politics," Harris said. "It's about doing the absolute best job in bringing good government to our neighborhood and to our city. You want a strong advocate, someone you know is going to show up, who you know is going to introduce legislation to help his residents and is going to support his businesses and give them the tools for success."
Harris' release says he is an attorney and businessman, with degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business.
The primary is on May 21.
