Former Steeler Released From Prison
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Former Pittsburgh Steeler and Giants star Plaxico Burress is out of prison and he says he's ready to get back on the football field.
Burress served 20 months in prison for illegally carrying and then accidentally firing a gun at a Manhattan nightclub.
He was released 3 months early for good behavior.
"It's a beautiful day that I get to be reunited with my family and go home and spend some quality time with them," Burress told reporters. "I'd like to thank everybody for their prayers and words of encouragement, thank all of my fans all around the world for their thousands of letters, for their unwavering support."
Burress went on to add that if and when the NFL season continues, he will be ready.
