Former Steeler Kordell Stewart Declares A New Age Of NFL QBs
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart joins Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan's Ron Cook live on Super Bowl XLVII's Radio Row.
Stewart thinks that a San Francisco 49ers win on Sunday will cement the age of the athletic quarterback in the NFL.
"That 'quarterback-sitting-in-the-pocket' thing is over. It's dead, it's done," he declares. "The mobile quarterback is really relevant - and has been for some time - but people will have no choice but to accept it now."
Still, Stewart explains why the game may rest on Kaepernick's arm instead of his legs.
"He's going to have to be able to throw the football," says Stewart. "He can't be like the Tim Tebows of the world where he can only run the football. He's going to have to be able to throw the football on a consistent basis."
Stewart also looks back fondly on his days in Pittsburgh, and remembers how the tougher times of his Steeler career helped make him a better man.
