Former Steeler, Andy Russell Previews 'Taste of the NFL' Event
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Former "Super Steeler" linebacker Andy Russell joined the Fan Morning Show on Tuesday to promote the Taste of the NFL's 'Kick Hunger Challenge' event.
Andy talks with Gregg, Paul, and Jim about how the game has changed to cater to the offensive side of the ball. The league wants to see offense, and Andy says that the rules have changed to allow it.
Concussions in sports has become a popular topic. Andy tells us that defensive players suffer more concussions than offensive player, but all of the rules are to prevent concussions to offensive skill players. Andy wonders when some rules will be changed to help prevent defensive players from being injured.
Andy also shares stories from his playing days and how the Steelers changed during his post-war tenure from one of the worst teams in the league to become the "Super Steelers" of the '70's.
