Former Shaler Villa VFC Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Gerst Dies

SHALER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The Shaler Villa Volunteer Fire Company is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Former assistant chief Andrew Gerst died this week.

He joined the company in 1961 and eventually became the longest serving chief in Shaler Township.

Gerst was 78 years old.
