Former Police Chief Guilty Of Selling Police Gun, Equipment
APOLLO, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a former western Pennsylvania police chief has pleaded guilty to the theft and sale of a police gun and equipment.
Attorney general Kathleen Kane says in a release that 53-year-old Paul Breznican Jr. of Apollo entered the guilty plea in Armstrong County Court. Apollo is about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Breznican was arrested in July 2012 on charges he sold an AR-15 police rifle purchased with federal grant money and pocketed the cash. He joined the Apollo police department in about 1998, and was fired last November.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 18. Breznican is free on bail.
