Former Pitt Star Aaron Donald Named NFL Defensive Rookie Of The Year
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Former Pitt star and St. Louis Rams rookie Aaron Donald was no stranger to stacking up awards during his college days, and just one year into his NFL career, that trend continues.
Donald was named the Pro Football Writers of America Defensive Rookie of the Year, becoming the first St. Louis Ram to do so since linebacker Isiah Robertson in 1971.
Donald was absolutely dominant in his rookie campaign leading all NFL rookies with nine sacks, setting a franchise record while recording 32 quarterback pressures, 12 quarterback hits and 17 tackles for a loss.
On top of being name Defensive Rookie of the Year, Donald was also named to the Pro Bowl.

Part way through this past season, Donald joined the Starkey and Mueller Show to talk about his rookie campaign and just how well it was going.
"Football is football," Donald said. "It's been a blast going out there and competing, playing with some of the best in the world at the top level. I'm trying to live my dream out of playing NFL football. It's been going well."
