Former Penn State Brass to Stand Trial in January
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- The Associated Press reports Dauphin County judge Todd Hoover has ordered jury selection for the trial of former Penn State senior vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley to begin Jan. 7.
Curley, who is on leave, and Schultz, who is retired, are charged with lying to a grand jury about the extent of their knowledge of the 2001 sexual abuse allegation against assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, and that they failed to report the suspected crime. They have pleaded not guilty.
Earlier this summer Sandusky was essentially sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty on multiple counts of abusing minor children.
Meanwhile, Judge Hoover is still considering motions by the men's lawyers to dismiss the charges. He has ordered state prosecutors to preserve all testimony and evidence collected in the Sandusky investigation.
