Former Mohawk Teacher Apologized To Alleged Victim
NORTH BEAVER TWP. (KDKA) -- The KDKA Investigators have learned a former high school teacher charged with sex crimes has apologized to his alleged victim.
All of this happened just before exploitation of a minor charges were dropped against former Mohawk High School teacher Harold Kerr.
State Police say, in a closed door meeting in Lawrence County, Harold Kerr told the alleged victim: "I'm sorry for what I did before you were 18. It shouldn't have happened."
Kerr, who retired as a Mohawk High School history teacher seven years ago, started the alleged sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student and continued that relationship for several years. The criminal complaint in the case indicates the alleged incident happened 12 years ago.
Lawyers for Kerr alleged the former student tried to extort money from Kerr. State Police investigators tell the KDKA Investigators: "It's plain and simple. She wasn't extorting him."
The alleged victim told the KDKA Investigators: "After he apologized, I agreed to drop all charges against him."
The alleged victim went on to say: "He ruined my life as a young teenager."
As part of an agreement signed by the alleged victim, she also agreed not to file a civil case against Kerr.
Michael Santicola, who represents Kerr says, "Harold Kerr did not apologize for anything illegal. He apologized privately for being in this mess. He didn't sign or admit anything. He admitted zero."
