Former Mayoral Candidate Arrested, Allegedly Calls Police "White Devils"
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A former mayoral candidate is facing charges tonight, following an incident that injured a police officer.
Officers were called to Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood Tuesday evening after a fight broke out between two neighbors.
One of them is former mayoral candidate AJ Richardson. Allegedly Richardson walked uninvited into a neighbor's home as the neighbor was calling his children into the house. Police say Richardson then began threatening the neighbor.
Police say Richardson appeared to be drunk and resisted arrest.
A scuffle broke out between Richardson and an officer – and the officer was knocked to the ground.
According to the police report, Richardson called the officers responding "white devils" and screamed at the crowd that had gathered around the scene to "stand up and fight back."
The officer was taken to the hospital with an arm and hip injury.
Richardson was also taken to a hospital with a facial injury.
He's facing several charges, including attempt to cause a riot.
