Former GM Sorts Out NHL Free Agency
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - To this point, the Penguins have only made minor roster moves in the first 20 hours of free agency. To talk about what is still to come, the Fan Morning Show talked to former NHL general manager, and current NHL Network analyst, Craig Button.
Craig tells us that Zach Parise is in a great situation, not only because he will be making a lot of money, but because he is being offered high dollar amounts by teams that can contend to win a Stanley Cup.
The two big names are Parise, and defenseman, Ryan Suter. Craig tells us how both players are being courted by many teams. Suter seems to be a good fit in Detroit because of their defensive vacancies, but Craig tells us that he could go anywhere.
Sidney Crosby has been helping to convince Parise to come to Pittsburgh, and Craig says that certainly helps to have a friend telling you all about a city, coaching staff, and front office group, so that you know the situation before making a life-changing decision.
However, don't be so quick to put Parise in a different uniform. As Craig says, the Devils are still very much in contention to keep their star winger.
