Former Buckeye & Current Steeler Will Allen Describes Time With Jim Tressel
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Steelers Safety and former Ohio St. Buckeye Will Allen joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about his relationship with Jim Tressel and how he feels about everything that is happening at his alma mater.
Will understands Tressel did some things wrong by withholding information from the NCAA, but wishes that everyone could know Tressel like he does because he has done nothing but mold kids into men and helped them become better people.
Will also wants people to look at Tressel's entire body of work rather than just this one incident when judging him, and said that everyone makes mistakes and Tressel is no different.
The players who exchanged memorabilia for tattoos are one of the major components of the NCAA violations, and Will told us that he doesn't know anything about the tattoo parlor in questions because he doesn't have any tattoos, but also said it was the players that got those tattoos and Tressell had guidelines set up for his players that they went outside of.
When it came to discussing the NCAA standards, Will said some of these rules may need to be reviewed and also gave us some changes he thinks could work to try to curtail all of these violations we see across the college football landscape.
We wrapped things up with Will discussing the scholarship check that college athletes get each month and Will told us the check he got during his college career was for $800 each month, but that had to go towards rent, gas and any other expenses he had.
