Focus Remains On Roads As More Rain, Snow Expected
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The stop in Sunday's snowfall meant that road crews could get to work on side streets before another round is expected to hit overnight.
Sunday evening, the snow turned to rain, making work a little easier for public works.
Crews had been focusing on main roads, but they say the let up in weather meant they could refocus their energies on side streets.
Roads were dicey in some areas across the region.
In Arnold, Westmoreland County, a car went careening down a hill and crashed into a home.
The people who live in the house say it's the third crash in a week.
"The city keeps telling us that this is a coincidence and that it would be inconvenient to turn this road into a one-way hill," said resident Alicia Phillips.
However, the rain on top of the existing snowfall could mean some icy conditions for drivers Sunday night.
"This event is not over yet," said KDKA's Jon Burnett.
More snow is expected overnight into Monday and Burnett says to expect an additional coating to 1 inch of snow.
