Drivers Dealing With Flooding, Ice
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Flooding and icy, slick roads have been causing some problems for drivers around the area.
PennDOT worked through the night to get the roads free of light snow and icy patches in time for the morning rush hour.
Crews planned to work some 12-hour shifts today as well, laying down salt solution to make sure the roads are safe.
Meanwhile, although the rain has stopped falling and the National Weather Service says the worst is over, parts of the area are still dealing with flooding. The storm drenched the region in nearly three-inches of rain, leaving some roads submerged.
Because of the high water, many well-traveled routes remain, including the 10th Street Bypass downtown. Commuters who park on the Mon Wharf will also have to find an alternate lot today.
Still 9-inches below flood stage, the "bathtub section" of the Parkway East remained open through the morning rush.
