Flood Watch Issued By National Weather Service
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for much of western Pennsylvania and the surrounding area.
According to the National Weather Service, the flood watch is in effect from late Sunday night until 7 p.m. Monday.
The watch was issued because up to an inch-and-a-half of rain will fall across the area and combine with the melting snow.
Due to the rain and snow melt, streams and creeks in low-lying areas may flood. The National Weather Service will be keeping a close eye on the area's rivers as well.
The flood watch was issued for the following counties in Pennsylvania:
Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, Washington and Westmoreland.
The flood watch was issued for the following counties in West Virginia:
Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio and Preston.
The flood watch is also in effect for Garrett County, Md.
