Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Most Of Viewing Area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Severe weather will be around the area for much of the day. As a result, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued.
According to the National Weather Service, a Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Armstrong, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset and Westmoreland counties throughout the evening.
Previously, a Flood Warning was in effect for Allegheny and Westmoreland counties where over an inch of rain fell.
One of the first reports of flooding was at the intersection of Greenhurst Drive and Cedar Boulevard in Mount Lebanon.
As of 10 a.m. there were several reports of flooding along Route 51 near Rainbow Run, Library Road and Bausman Street.
This afternoon, slow-moving storms capable of producing 1-2 inches of rain per hour are expected to impact the area.
According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, there have been several reports of lightning strikes around the area.
However, there are no reported injuries.
