Flames, Ice Cause Problems For Firefighters
BULLSKIN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- From the threat of a propane tank explosion to icy conditions, firefighters in Fayette County faced a number of challenges while trying to put out a fire at a local fruit market early this morning.
The fire started at Frank's Fruit Market on Memorial Boulevard in Bullskin Township around midnight.
The blaze shut down Route 119 for some time this morning as firefighters from Fayette and Westmoreland Counties worked to contain the situation.
A propane tank inside the building made for a potentially dangerous situation; but firefighters managed to get to the tank before it exploded.
Fire crews also had to deal with icy conditions when water runoff froze over.
Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
