Firefighters Hurt, Buildings To Be Torn Down After Brownsville Fire
BROWNSVILLE (KDKA) -- Three firefighters were taken to the hospital overnight after a wall collapsed at a burning home in Brownsville, Fayette County.
The firefighters were released after treatment, but the home - along with the one next door - will have to be torn down.
The fire chief says the damage from the blaze, combined with possible structural damage from mining, make both buildings dangerous.
"We have two structures in between here that are unsound," said Chief Clark Sealy, of Brownsville Fire Co. #1. "If we take a chance on leaving these intact or up here, we may have a tragedy."
The chief says he believes the cause of the fire may be suspicious.
The fire marshal is investigating.
