Firefighter Hurt, Home Damaged In West View Overnight
WEST VIEW (KDKA) -- A firefighter suffered minor burns while battling a two-alarm house fire in West View overnight.
The blaze broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Georgetown Avenue.
When crews arrived on the scene, officials say they found significant fire at the back of the home on the second floor.
Authorities said the people who live there were not home when the fire broke out. Two dogs were able to escape the flames.
The firefighter who was hurt was treated at the scene and did not need to go to the hospital.
As for damage to the home, crews say there was fire damage on the second floor and water damage to the first floor.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
Meanwhile, in the city of Pittsburgh, fire crews were called to the South Side and Knoxville overnight.
In Knoxville, firefighters were called out to an abandoned home on Orchard Place around 1 a.m.
On the South Side, the fire call came in just after 2 a.m. as flames could be seen shooting through the roof of a three-story vacant building in the 2200-block of East Carson Street.
There is no word on the cause in either of those fires.
