Fire At North Charleroi High-Rise Displaces Some Residents
NORTH CHARLEROI (KDKA) -- Several people have been displaced following a fire at a high-rise apartment building in Washington County Sunday night.
The blaze started around 8 p.m. at the Nathan Goff apartments on Middleland Avenue in North Charleroi.
There are no reported injuries and no one was trapped in the building.
"To the best of my knowledge I heard the fire alarm go off. I got up, I didn't see any smoke in my apartment or anything, but I went out on my balcony and I looked at all the fire trucks that [were] in the back of the building. So, I said, 'Well, this must be big.' And I high-tailed it and forgot my jacket even. [I came] downstairs and when I got downstairs, I went running around to the lobby and water was pouring down out of the ceilings in the lobby," James Wadsworth said.
However, a number of elderly residents were reportedly displaced and the Red Cross is assisting them.
