Final Full Parkway East Closure Set For This Weekend
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Parkway East closure that was postponed on the weekend of the Light Up Night festivities will be happening this weekend.
City officials say this will be the last full closure of the Parkway East for the Beechwood Boulevard (Greenfield) Bridge project.
Both the inbound and outbound lanes will be closed to all traffic starting Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 a.m. until Monday, Dec. 12 at 6 a.m.
During this closure, workers will be tightening the steel connections and finishing the installation of metal decking.

City Operations Director Guy Costa tells the KDKA Morning News that the same detours from last December's closure will be in place.

Off-duty police officers will be directing traffic at key intersections to assist motorists along the detour routes and help minimize travel times.
But officials are encouraging drivers to find their own alternate routes.
"They're using Second Avenue, or they're using Carson Street," Costa says. "So were finding that traffic is not as bad as we anticipated."
