PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The federal judge involved in the case of the alleged Tree of Life shooter is retiring.
According to KDKA's news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Senior U.S. District Judge Donetta Ambrose will transfer to inactive senior status on February 1.
Once Ambrose retires, all of her cases will be reassigned at random.
That includes the delayed capital case against Robert Bowers.
Judge Ambrose was the first woman to serve as Chief Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
