Federal Grand Jury Investigating Pittsburgh Police Chief
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The KDKA Investigators have learned a federal grand jury is investigating corruption allegations against Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper.
Sources tell KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that a Pittsburgh Police Sergeant, as well as a longtime friend of Harper and his wife, testified today before a grand jury.
Arthur Bedway, who is already facing federal bribery, conspiracy and fraud charges, allegedly testified that Harper approached him about the idea of a sham company.
Both men allegedly discussed an opportunity to install computers and radios in police cars.
Bedway is the founder of Victory Security, one of the region's largest private security providers.
A former Pittsburgh City employee has already plead guilty to conspiracy in the case. The former employee admitted the accepting two $3,000 bribes.
Sources also say that Chief Harper has been interviewed by the FBI several times.
Sources indicate Harper told federal authorities he did nothing wrong. Harper has not been charged with any crime.
No comment regarding the investigation from the City of Pittsburgh…the US Attorney's office of Nate Harpers attorneys.
