FBI, IRS Raid Washington Co. Business Executive's Home

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- The FBI and the IRS carted out dozens of boxes filled with personal papers Wednesday from the home of George Retos on Lemoyne Avenue in East Washington.

This isn't his first go round with the Feds.

The former Washington County attorney gave up his license to practice law after he was convicted in 1994 in U.S. District Court of nine counts of tax evasion, mail fraud, transporting a stolen security and bank fraud.

He also was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

In February 2009, the federal government filed a new complaint against Retos alleging that he owed $831,945 to the IRS for the tax years of 1987, 1993, 1995 to 2001 and 2003 to 2006.

With penalties and interest, the amount owed, according to the filing, was more than $1.3 million.

Retos is presently the managing director of Prime Plastics in Washington, Pa.
