Fayette Co. Man Jailed Over Alleged Rape

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) - A Fayette County man is in jail after allegedly raping a mentally disabled woman in a Uniontown Park.

The incident allegedly happened in broad daylight in a park right in the middle of town.

Robert Lilley, 51, is facing rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault and related charges after police said he forced himself on a mentally disabled woman.

Lilley met the victim when she was standing outside of the Salvation Army store around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

He offered to buy her coffee and cigarettes. The two walked to the Sunoco station, then continued to Marshall Park.

They were sitting on a bench when Lilley allegedly grabbed the woman and dragged her to a secluded area near the creek.

Lilley admitted to raping the woman, but claims he didn't know she was mentally disabled.

He told police, "I saw her hands shaking. I didn't know what was wrong with her. I just knew something was wrong."

He went on to say, "That was wrong for me doing that."

Lilley asked the victim to meet him back at the Sunoco station Wednesday afternoon and that's when police took him into custody.

He is being held in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 bond.
