Father, Son Accused Of Abusing Girl Waive Case To Trial
WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- A man and his son are headed to trial in connection with the alleged abuse of a young girl.
According to investigators, the son is accused of sexually assaulting the child, and and she was allegedly assaulted again when she went to his father for help.
James Keith Maskil, 19, and his father, 43-year-old James Earl Maskil, had their heads bowed as they walk silently into court Wednesday.
The son and his father are accused of sexually assaulting the girl over a seven year period. The victim was 6-years-old when police say the assaults started. She's a teenager now.
Neighbors say they are disgusted with both men.
"I was shocked. I couldn't believe that I live two doors from somebody like that," one neighbor said. "I think they both need to rot in jail forever."
The girl first reported the alleged assaults recently to teachers at her high school. They notified investigators.
The father is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
The son is charged with two counts of rape of a child and one count of indecent assault.
The judge in the case agreed to lower bond. The suspects' attorneys agreed to waive the case to trial.
The judge is trying to protect the victim from the stress of testifying at a preliminary hearing.
