Father Of Slain Shopkeeper Emotional After Verdict
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man accused of killing a shopkeeper at a North Side clothing store more than two years ago has been found guilty.
Michael Ross was shot and killed during a robbery attempt at his store, CM&M Fashion, in November of 2008.
A jury convicted Edward Dixon of second degree murder. He was the second man charged in the case.
"I wanted somebody to say, 'I'm sorry,' have some kind of remorse," Fred Ross, the victim's father, said. "Not to just … Like, why? Why? Why'd you even come in the store with a gun?"
Dixon's attorney argued the statement he made to police was coerced. The jury didn't buy that argument.
It's been a hard road for the victim's father.
"I go home, take a breath and start living, because I ain't been living too good for the last two years," Ross said.
Ross said he started a football program in his son's memory and hopes of keeping his legacy alive.
