Fantasy Friday: Week 2
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- You are one week into your fantasy league and there are still so many question marks. Did you waste another early pick on Chris Johnson? Which Michael Vick is going to show up this week? Who is Alfred Morris?
If you are looking for all the answers you came to the right place. Yes, you did waste a picking if you drafted Chris Johnson. The bad Michael Vick will be on display in Philadelphia. A rookie drafted in the 6th round out of Florida Atlantic University.
Here are the other stars and duds for week 2.
Quarterbacks To Play:
Robert Griffin III - Nobody could have expected the debut RG3 made last week, accounting for 320 yards passing with 2 touchdowns, as well as 42 yards rushing, but he has an even better match-up this week taking on the St. Louis Rams defense.
Matt Schaub - When Schaub, Arian Foster and Andre Johnson are all healthy the Texans offense has too many weapons to stop everyone. That is especially the case when the Jacksonville defense is the group you ask to slow them down. I expect big games from all three.
Quarterbacks to Bench:
Michael Vick - The Browns defense was able to force 4 interceptions from Vick last week, the Ravens are slightly better on that side of the ball.
Matthew Stafford - We saw what the 49ers defense did last we in Green Bay to Aaron Rodgers, I expect them to have the same type of impact in prime time this Sunday night in front of the home crowd.
Running Backs to Play:
Adrian Peterson - Back from off season knee surgery and AP only has 17 carries, but he makes the most of them, gaining 84 yards and finding pay dirt twice in the opener against Jacksonville. This week, the Vikings get the Colts, who keep getting older and older up front on the defense. Peterson will get more touches this week as they continue to try to get him into mid season form.
Darren McFadden - DMac had only 32 yards in the Monday Night snooze-fest against San Diego, but he caught 13 passes making him a huge value in PPR leagues. Chances are the Dolphins won't keep him to less than 32 yards this week.
Running Back to Bench:
C.J Spiller - Despite going for 169 in week 1, I think Spiller is a dangerous play against a very stout defensive front in Kansas City. The Chiefs held Michael Turner of the Falcons to just 32 yards on 11 carries.
Wide Receivers to Play:
Brandon Lloyd - The easiest way to explain this choice is that William Gay will be covering him in Arizona on Sunday. Beyond that, Lloyd gives Tom Brady a deep threat he hasn't had since Randy Moss.
Andre Johnson - As I mentioned talking about Matt Schaub, I think the Texans have too many weapons on offense to be stopped, and Johnson is the benefactor of that situation.
Wide Receivers to Bench:
Jeremy Maclin - I don't like Maclin this week and it has nothing to do with a hip flexor that has held him out of practice so far this week, it is the Ravens defense. While Maclin will be Vick's first option against the pressure that the Ravens will most certainly bring, that does not necessarily mean high production, just ask A.J Green who caught just 5 passes against the Baltimore defense as the Bengals top target.
Mike Wallace - Despite scoring a touchdown in his first game after the off-season hold out, Wallace does not have a good match-up facing Darrelle Revis on Sunday if he plays. That is a big "if" though so as always make sure you check the injury report on Sunday morning. If Revis does play, Wallace's targets will go way down and so will his fantasy production.
That is your Fantasy Friday update for Week 2, as always good luck and don't forget to update your rosters.
