Fans Weigh In On Fate Of Pens
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- On the inline rink at Robert Morris's facility on Neville Island today, the assessment of the Penguins was short and blunt.
"I think this was their year they had a chance and they blew it," said J.D. Gazella of West Allegheny.
The burn of the Bruins' celebration still echoing in their ears, the Penguins are looking ahead to their futures.
"You might not see all the same faces coming next season," said the Pens' Kris Letang.
And Letang's price tag puts him on the bubble, his desire is clear.
"Having the chance to play with a guy like Crosby every year, I think is pretty special," Letang said.
"Definitely resign Letang, I think they are strong enough with Malkin -- if anything he goes and build up defensively," said Chris Habazin of Imperial.
You heard right -- ditch No. 71. These fans are blunt and not looking at the Pens with emotion.
"Honestly I think definitely Brenden Morrow can go, he didn't produce very much this year," said Tyler Fortuna of Crescent. "But I'd definitely hang on to Kunitz and Depuis."
Coach Dan Bylsma is also clearly still in shock.
"Disbelief we're not playing hockey right now," he said.
Some in the line crowd say he needs to go, most say no.
"I think Bylsma should stay because it wasn't his fault that we lost," Fortuna said.
