Family Rescued From Fire In Beechview
BEECHVIEW (KDKA) - A family of three had to be rescued from a burning home in Beechview overnight.
The fire started just before midnight at a three-unit apartment building at the intersection of Rockland and Sebring Avenues.
"The first fire company on scene confirmed the fire," said Assistant Pittsburgh Fire Chief Thomas Cook. "The fire company removed three civilians from the building. All three appeared to be in good condition, and they were transported to the hospital for observation."
Firefighters were able to rescue a man, a woman and their 7-year-old child. They were taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital and are expected to be okay.
Assistant Chief Cook says the fire started on the back porch, and most of the damage was confined to that area and the rear of the home.
The inside of the home did have smoke and water damage. The people living in the three unit apartment building had to find another place to stay for at least one night.
