Family Remembers Slain Beltzhoover Woman With Mother's Day Vigil
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Mother's Day isn't supposed to be centered around a memorial vigil.
But for six young children - still waiting to find out who killed their mother, 28 –year-old Tionna Jackson - that's exactly what today all was about.
Candles, balloons, a teddy bear and tears were all brought to the place where their mother was gunned down two-and half-months ago.
"We're just here to celebrate Tionna's life," her sister Tiffany Walker said. "We loved her. She was a wonderful mother, mother of six -- I sometimes don't even know how she did it."
At the time of her death, police said Jackson had just left a nearby bar with a friend when the shooting took place.
He was injured, but survived the shooting. He may have been the intended target, but so far, no arrests have been made in the case.
Family and friends would like to see someone come forward with information in the case - to bring some closure for the small children left behind by a shooting of what appears to be an innocent victim.
"Our sister was taken prematurely …" Walker said. "And someone knows something. So we just want people to come forward. It's been two-and-a-half months now and happy Mother's Day Tionna."
"We just want closure," Jackson's other sister Brandi said.
The children in this case are surrounded by other family members - their dads, god mothers and even young cousins.
But after all, today is Mother's Day, and for hearts so young, it's hard to understand, why their mother isn't here to share what's supposed to be her very special day.
"Happy Mother's day Tionna," Walker said. "We love you"
