Family Pleads For Clymer Hit & Run Driver To Come Forward
CLYMER (KDKA) -- The family of a woman killed in a hit and run accident in Indiana County is begging the driver to turn themselves in.
Leslie Bennett was walking home last Sunday night when she was struck by a truck on State Route 553 in Cherryhill Township.
She was taken to a hospital in Johnstown, but later died from her injuries
Investigators are looking at surveillance video and interviewing witnesses.
Meanwhile, Bennett's daughters are devastated on the loss of their mom.
"She's the whole reason I am who I am today. She's done everything for me and I can't have that out of my life," said 18-year-old Alissa Bennett.
"This impacts my life today and it impacts my life forever. I'm not going to have my mom at my wedding, my kids will never have a grandmother," 20-year-old Deidre Bennett said.
Police released a description of the suspect's vehicle after the accident.
They are looking for a red pickup, possibly a Ford with a step-side bed. There should be considerable damage to the right front of the vehicle.
Authorities also believer the driver may be local.
"We just want justice," said Deidre. "There's no amount of closure that can come out of this. We just want to know. We want to know how you could do it and keep going. How you could not turn around. We know you know you hit her."
