Families Concerned Over Nursing Home Operation
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) --- The operators of a local nursing home are responding to concerns from families of residents.
Families say they're not getting the facts about plans for the facility's future.
"Vincentian Regency" has been a home for the elderly in the Pittsburgh area since 1966 but it supposedly stopped admitting new residents back in March.
"Where do you go? What do you do? My mom is 72 years old. She can think about and reason what's going on. She doesn't sleep. She's worried. She cries. And she's not the only resident there that's going through this turmoil," says Becky Schied, daughter of a resident.
In a statement received from Vincentian Regency this afternoon, "there has been no decision made to close Vincentian Regency. Vincentian is sound, with a healthy future ahead. Because today's challenging healthcare environment requires vigilance in managing our facilities, we are in the process of evaluating the needs of all our buildings system wide."
Becky Schied says more residents and their families are making plans to move out just as a precaution.
