Fall weather is expected to remain in place this week throughout the Pittsburgh area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Fall weather is expected to remain in place this week throughout the Pittsburgh area.
Any Alert Days Ahead? Chance on Thursday and Friday due to first frost chance.
Aware: Yesterday was the first day since Sept 9th with our daily average temperature falling below the daily average.
We knew it was going to eventually happen. Yesterday's daily average temperature was 3 degrees below average. It was the first time we had seen below-average temperatures in 29 days. That's impressive. We will see a slew of days at or below the average from now through Friday. Highs today will be in the The average high for this time of the year is 66 degrees. It was 67° yesterday. The average low for today is 46 degrees. Yesterday it was 47°.
We should see a high of around 65° today with morning lows dipping to the low 40s. This is the type of weather you can expect for the rest of the work week,
We continue to be in an area that should see a series of impulses or waves being pushed south from an upper-low spinning in northern Canada. While most will be likely be dry for the day, I can't rule out an isolated shower with places northeast of Pittsburgh having the best shot at seeing some. Wind speeds even this morning should be up near 10mph, and that'll likely keep fog in the patchy range. Areas that could see a thicker layer of fog included low lying valley areas and communities with a large source of water around.
Looking ahead, widespread frost will be possible on Thursday and Friday. Friday will have the best chance to see frost this week with a mix of clear skies, light winds, and a cold air mass in place will all come into play.
Just a quick Milton update, the storm continues to be a major and dangerous storm. It's still on track to make landfall somewhere near Tampa Bay on Wednesday evening. Milton will devastate the Florida peninsula and will have far-reaching impacts. People will die. If you are talking to someone on the fence about evacuating, please make sure they're aware of how dangerous this storm is going to be.
