Explosive Found In Butler Co. Hostage Case
WORTHINGTON (KDKA) -- The bomb squad was called to the small town of Worthington in Armstrong County on Wednesday, a week after reports of a man with a bomb holding his ex-girlfriend hostage.
The suspect, identified by authorities as Keith Kammerdeiner, was in court today and told police where he left the homemade explosive.
The device was found in some bushes, near homes, businesses and people.
Investigators say Kammerdeiner dropped it there last Thursday when he was on the run from police.
"He made a comment to the state police as he was being transferred back to the Armstrong County Jail," said Scott Andreassi, the Armstrong County District Attorney. "They then transported him to this area and he showed us the exact location of the device he was talking about."
The homemade device was packed with nitroglycerin, tacks and appeared to have a fuse.
The bomb squad destroyed it.
Kammerdeiner remains in jail on sex assault charges and now faces an additional charge of endangerment.
