Excitement Building Ahead Of NL Wild Card Game
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The excitement is growing in and around PNC Park ahead of tonight's Wild Card matchup between the Pirates and Cubs.
This morning, a few hopefuls stood outside the box office with fingers crossed that extra tickets will be released.
As for re-sale tickets, some were offered on ticket purchasing apps for thousands of dollars.
Cubs fans, Noel and Tony Borck, drove up from Virginia after getting tickets a few weeks ago at much better price.
Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta took to some boastful tweeting this week and the Borcks hope he can pull through tonight.
"Hopefully, they'll scream real loud so the pitcher for the Cubs can't hear," Beatrice Defide said.
The Pirates were confident during practice Tuesday and with the postseason, as we've seen, anything can happen.
"Well my other son is a Yankees fan and they lost last night so I think the Bucs are going to pull it out for me and half of us will be happy," Defide said.
Joel Robosky came from just outside Bradenton, Florida with a sign that was present when the Pirates last won the World Series.
He dusted it off in 2013 and it has been at the last two Wild Card games.

Today, it was getting more and more signatures from fans.
"You know, superstitious, fans are. It had to be here. I had to get it up here for this," he said. "For good luck, more signatures, better luck."
The first pitch for the game is scheduled for 8:08 p.m. The winner will move on to face the St. Louis Cardinals.
