Ex-YMCA Aquatics Director Headed For Trial On Child Pornography Charges
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hiding his face as he exited a preliminary hearing, Hart Williams will go on trial for allegedly downloading 58,000 photos and 250 videos of child pornography.
That's what agents say they found on his home computers, thumb drives and other data storage devices.
"We try to identify threats before they contact a live child," says Deputy State Attorney General Anthony Marmo.
"So there's no allegations that he acted out on that, which is a positive factor," said Williams' defense attorney, Robert Del Greco.
After his arrest, the 28-year-old Williams of West View was fired from his job as the aquatics director at the Baierl Family YMCA in Wexford.
In April, the State Attorney General's Office completed a month-long investigation tracing the pornography to an Internet address at Williams' apartment.
"I know he regrets the fact that these allegations brought the YMCA into a negative light," says Del Greco.
A reduction in Williams' $80,000 bond was denied.
"If he is released from jail, it would be under some very specific conditions," Del Greco said.
Marmo outlined those conditions.
"If he would be released on bond, there would be no computers, Internet, cell phones, contact with children," he said.
Williams' parents are considering options regarding bail.
Williams did pass employment background checks before he was hired by the YMCA.
