Ex-Cop Jailed In Hit-And-Run Now Facing Drug Charges
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - A former Crafton police officer, who spent a year in prison for a fatal hit and run incident, is now facing drug charges.
Those charges were filed after authorities say they found illegal and banned substances in his home.
Donnie Breeden once took an oath to uphold the law. Now, he's a convict, having served a year in prison in connection with the hit-and-run death of 24-year-old David Hall.
The evidence showed Breeden allegedly had been drinking when he ran down Hall and left the scene.
Now, he's in more trouble with the law. Allegheny County Police raided his home in Green Tree.
Authorities say they found compressed discs of cocaine, several bags of marijuana, vials of anabolic steroids, $1,500 in cash and drug paraphernalia.
No one was answering the door at Breeden's home Thursday.
Allegheny County Police say Breeden is accused of selling coke, pot and steroids out of his home.
His arrest comes just two years after he was freed from jail in the hit-and-run case.
For now Breeden is free, released on his own recognizance and back here at his home in Green Tree. But he'll soon return to court.
Breeden was fired by Crafton in August 2009 and pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run charge and no contest to involuntary manslaughter in September 2010.
