Evan Meek Put On 15-Day Disabled List
PITTSBURGH (KDKA)--As the Pirates open a wrap-around four-game series against the New York Mets tonight, there comes word of more injury news.
First, the Pirates have moved catcher Chris Snyder from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list, which indicates he could be done for perhaps the rest of the season.
Snyder needs back surgery.
And then today, reliever Evan Meek was put on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis.
He will be replaced on the roster by AAA closer Tim Wood, who had 13 saves this year.
Meek will visit with Dr. James Andrews, and for a pitcher, that's never good.
"Obviously there is still something wrong," Meek said. "I mean there are different ways you can go about it. You can try to throw through it, and hope it's just a dead arm thing or you can go get checked out and that's what we did. I'm trying to be careful with things. I'm not thinking about the next month. I'm thinking about the next 10 years. Hopefully this is just a minor setback."
