Eric Fehr: There's A Good Calm In Penguins' Locker Room
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Penguins forward Eric Fehr joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Tuesday to talk about preparing for a showdown with the Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Fehr said that although this regular season was a bit of a roller coaster ride, it seems to have ended the right way.
"The season's a bit of a marathon," Fehr said. "You want to get through it, and our team, we didn't get a chance to pace ourselves by any stretch. We put ourselves in a bit of a hole at the beginning of the season, but right now, we've been playing some pretty good hockey and we've got to keep that going."
Now that the Penguins are here, Fehr feels great about their chances.
"I think there's a good calm in the room," Fehr said. "I think, obviously, guys like Matt Cullen lead that, and help everybody just relax and play hockey. We've gone through a lot this year with the coaching change and the tough start to the season. I think, the more older guys you have, the guys that have kind of been around and seen it all, they can kind of help bring everybody in the room to a calm and just play hockey."
It's easy to doubt the Penguins given the uncertainty as to whether Marc-Andre Fleury, Matt Murray, or Jeff Zatkoff will be in net to start the series, but Fehr said that it'll make no difference to the team.
"We trust any one of those guys," Fehr said. "Our team is confident the way we're playing, and it's not going to change with who's in net. So, we'll see what happens moving forward, but I can promise you, we have all the confidence in the world…whichever goalie's in net."
