Employee Facing Charges For Allegedly Stealing From Local Company

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A woman from Aliquippa was arrested after going on maternity leave and is now facing charges for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the local company she worked for.

Anne Dushac has worked for Tripp Umbach, Inc. since 2008 and allegedly started using the company's credit card in 2009.

But it wasn't until December of last year when she went on maternity leave that she got caught for allegedly stealing.

Dushac worked as the office manager of the company, located in the Strip District, and handled an American Express card that was supposed to be used for employee business.

Instead, according to the criminal complaint, she used the card to buy nearly $80,000 worth of things for herself.

The criminal complaint says things started falling apart for Dushac after she went on maternity leave last December and another employee took over reconciling the company's Amex statements.

That's when company officials discovered suspicious charges on the card dating all the way back to 2009, including charges for everything from purchases at Barnes & Noble to Bath & Body Works, Walmart, the Apple store, Paypal and CreditReport.com.

When confronted, the complaint says, Dushac said she must have mistakenly used the wrong Amex card when she made those purchases and admitted that at least some of them were personal.

In addition to accusations that she used the company's credit card for personal use, Dushac is accused of writing checks to herself that were supposed to be for business reimbursements. But investigators say they couldn't find any proof that the reimbursements were legitimate.

Dushac is charged with fraud and theft.
