Police Dispatch Recordings Tell Story From Franklin Regional
MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- Much has been said about the emergency response to Wednesday's stabbings - how effectively everyone worked together to not only contain the situation, but get help to the victims.
Less than seven minutes after the first sign of trouble at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville, the suspect was in custody. Police dispatch recordings from that morning tell the story.
The first dispatch is at 7:09 a.m.
"I don't know what I got going down on school here, but I need units ASAP."
Less than a minute later, details start coming in from the scene.
"We're getting a call reporting one individual has a knife."
"The actor is Alex Hribel, not sure of location right now."
Six minutes after the initial dispatch, the need for help becomes apparent.
"Penn Township to Murrysville Command: I have my whole shift coming your way."
"Jake, I'm in the front door to first hall on right, half way down. I got multiple victims. We need ambulances here as soon as possible."
Less than seven minutes after the first dispatch, at 7:15 a.m., the suspect was arrested.
"Be advised, suspect is in custody. Only one suspect."
With that, the focus turns to getting medical help.
"Okay, be advised inside school we have multiple stab victims okay. So, bring in EMS from wherever you can get them. Get us some local officers here. Also, suspect is in custody, but we need some help here."
Eight minutes after that first dispatch, medics are on scene.
"Can you go to rear of the school and assist in any way you can? We have victims all over the ground."
From there, the helicopters were directed to the soccer field, and the hospitals notified.
