1 Teen Hospitalized After Bus Accident In Wilkins Township
WILKINS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A teenage girl was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a chain reaction accident involving two buses full of children in Wilkins Township.
Officials say the buses were carrying children from a summer camp in Monroeville when the accident happened on William Penn Highway.
One bus reportedly rear ended the other, causing the chain reaction crash. Officials say the bus that was struck then rear ended an SUV, which then hit another vehicle.
Authorities say the bus driver believes there may have been mechanical problems. Police say they will inspect the bus.
There were 28 children on one of the buses and 27 on the other.
A 16-year-old girl was taken to Children's Hospital for observation.
