Washington County's Elrama Tavern 'A Total Loss' After Fire
ELRAMA, Pa. (KDKA) -- A fire destroyed the popular Elrama Tavern in Washington County.
The owners of the tavern posted to Facebook that the building appears to be "a total loss." The tavern was around for more than 70 years and was the place to eat and gather in the small community.
Flames and smoke were first reported at the tavern around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The three-alarm fire destroyed the building and one employee had minor burns on her arms.
A local fire firefighter was inside the business ordering food when the fire broke out. By the time he raced to the station for help, the place was fully engulfed in flames.
On its Facebook page, the tavern is thanking first responders.
"Our sincere gratitude to all of the 1st responders, neighbors, friends, family, and our employees who are working so hard right now to try and navigate through this tragic event."
It is not yet known what sparked the fire.
