Ellwood City Police Foil Suspected School Bomb Plot
ELLWOOD CITY (KDKA) -- Police in Ellwood City have stopped what they believe may have been a plot to put explosives in Lincoln High School.
Students at the school found the alleged threats on a 16-year-old sophomore's Facebook page.
According to police papers, the girl had a conversation with 18-year-old Nicholas Martinkovich, 21-year-old Christopher VanKirk and 20-year-old Kasey Kimmel.
The discussion included talk of using C-4 type plastic explosives on each floor of the school. There was also talk of using a chainsaw, hatchets and guns.
Adrian Nelson, who knows the juvenile who's been charged, says she's a very nice girl who would have no idea about using explosives.
Some parents at an open house questioned whether the talk on Facebook was serious, but acknowledged that police and administrators have to treat it seriously.
Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court said the plot details were very "vivid."
Martinkovich and the juvenile are in custody. Kimmel and Vankirk have not been located by police.
Each will be charged with threatening to use weapons of mass destruction and making terroristic threats.
